Director's Message
Partnerships
Please take a minute to electronically review our fiscal year 2008 Annual Report contained herein. Our overall message stresses the importance of the partnerships on which we rely every day. It starts with the basic management/service philosophy that we stress on a daily basis. It is encouraged by our board that is charged with the facilitation of the programs that we manage; expected by the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality that is our regulating agency; and, provided for by the Arkansas State Legislature that is responsible for our grant funding. We're all partners in protecting the general public's health by using the best possible environmental practices while reducing the bulk of our municipal solid waste stream.
Our suppliers and contractors are our partners, too. We work in tandem, collecting and hauling solid waste, recycling as much of it as we can by utilizing today's waste to energy and other exciting recycling processes, and taking our fiduciary responsibility very seriously as we function as stewards of the public funding with which we are provided.
The other regional solid waste management districts in Arkansas are also our partners as we all strive to work together toward a common goal, that of reducing the amount of waste that goes into our state's landfills. Combine all of these "partners" with the scores of concerned, well-meaning recyclers that we come in contact with on a daily basis and you can see we have an enviable wealth of partners working together with us as we try to leave our beautiful district, state, country and world in better shape than we found it.
Join us in our partnership. We welcome your participation.
