Director's Message

You asked for it.

Since the curbside recycling program started in Little Rock and North Little Rock most of the challenges we have faced have involved the bins we use. "I need a bigger bin." "The bin's too bulky. It's hard to carry to the curb."

"Why can't I put all of my recycling -- including my cardboard and newspapers -- in my bin?"

For all you loyal recyclers (and scores of new ones we hope) welcome to the brand new world of convenient curbside recycling.

By the end of the first quarter of 2012 every single family household in Little Rock and North Little Rock will have a green and yellow 65-gallon wheeled and lidded recycling bin in which all of their recyclables can be placed for collection.

No more sorting; no more lugging the old 18-gallon bin to the curb; and because of the expanded capacity of the new bin, pickups will be every other week rather than weekly!

This is just the beginning of our new and improved recycling profile.

Also coming soon will be an innovative rewards program tailored specifically for Little Rock and North Little Rock. Watch this space for updates.

We welcome your questions and comments.
